Kate Linder (“Young and the Restless”) opens up about her time on TV at the Movieguide Awards in 2014. By: Ariel Wei
Kate Linder has been acting on “Young and the Restless” for almost 32 years amd loves every minute of it. “Our show is incredible. Our writers are incredible and are producers. They tell stories everyday and help people. They are always dealing with real life situations,” states Linder. Linder talks about how her character is a single mother and that relatable representation in media is important and helpful to the viewers. “We handle different things and I really like that about our show.”
Linder goes on to promote her then new movie “Miss Meadows”. Linder worked alongside Katie Holmes, who played a teacher, while Linder played a principal.
As for the Movieguide Awards, Linder loves the event dearly, explaining, “This event because it gives people hope, courage, and inspiration and we need a lot more of that.”
Host: Hey guys! I’m here with Kate Linder. You look pretty fabulous tonight. Are you pretty warm?
Kate: Yeah, this blouse is by Natan Danielle.
Host: Very smart of you. So, what brings you here tonight?
Kate: This is the Movieguide Awards and I love this event because it honors films that give people hope and courage and inspiration and we need a lot more of that.
Host: So, how do you portray that in your work? I know that you’ve been in the industry for a while, so…
Kate: Well, I’ve been on The Young and The Restless for 32 years and one thing about our show is that our show is great. Our writers, our producers. And they tell stories every day and good stories and they help people and they are always dealing with real life situations, such as my character is a single mother and there’s a lot of people who deal with that. Or breast cancer. Or different things. I really like that about our show.
Host: That’s awesome. Now, do you have any other projects that are going on this year?
Kate: Actually, yes. I just finished a film with Katie Holmes called Miss Meadows that should be out soon.
Host: So, what’s your character about?
Kate: I play a high school principal and Katie is a teacher in my school.
Host: Very cool. Well, we wish you the best Kate and good luck with the rest of the year as well. And stay warm.
Kate: Nice to see you!

Yes, Ariel was named after the mermaid. And, no that is not her favorite princess (it’s Mulan, but Ariel is a close second). Other than liking most things Disney, Ariel also likes reading Young Adult novels (despite being way above the recommended reading age), eating the non-smelly type of papaya, Oxford Commas, and watching bad movies on Netflix with her friends. She is currently going into her third year of university as a Communication Studies major. Find her on LinkedIn @arielnwei | View My Blogs
