Being one of the most recognizable characters Superman’s story is known worldwide and has transcended generation after generation but now we see a new side to the story. Krypton is one of the newest installations of the Superman story and tells about the hero’s home world and the struggles leading up to the origin of a icon. Cameron Cuffe plays Seyg-El, the eventual grandfather to Kal-El A.K.A. Superman and clearly displays his passion and excitement for the role being a fully invested geek in the comic book culture from the actual literature alongside the animated adaptations. He is thrilled to bring us a new story attached to the legend of Superman and goes into some of the intricacies of the planet Krypton to set the stage for Syfy’s newest comic inspired series.
Seyg-El is now at the bottom of a world that was once dominated by the House of El and in the cast guided society of Krypton, social mobility is rarely ever achieved. We will see how the opposing House of Zod will come into play, especially having a forbidden romance between Seyg and Layta-Zod, in the struggle for power. Cuffe also notes how he is thrilled to be apart of a new story and how even though there will be more than enough references to the classic Superman tale Krypton strives to forge it’s own path. We are waiting to see how the iconic insignia becomes a beacon of hope with Seyg-El at the forefront of establishing that narrative and so we are eager to watch.
