Wayne Szalinski (Rick Moranis) is an at home inventor who successfully creates an electromagnetic shrinking machine from the comforts of his own home. However, despite this scientific success, he accidentally manages to shrink his own children and his neighbor’s children in the process. Unknowing to this new change in stature, Wayne tosses his invention out to the trash- along with the much smaller versions of the kids. The Szalinkskis and Thompsons are then faced with the reality that they must venture back home, which was once a mere few steps away- in order to turn back to their normal selves. Along the way, they discover that the small things they once walked past- like baseball bats and lawn mowers- were now taken into a much different perspective than before.
As a staple to the Disney franchise, the misadventures of the Szalinksi family are of one to note. With the mysterious, discoverable ways of science and the accidental fun and comedic adventure that ensues, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids is an family favorite for all ages. This movie may have kids wanting to do a little more than their typical baking-soda volcano for the science project at home, but the quirky, 80s charm of this family sci-fi will have them wanting more.

Not to mention, I’m a 11 year veteran of San Diego Comic Con! I’ve been going since 2007 consecutively, and have met celebrities ranging from Youtube content creators to Marvel actors on the silver screen. Aside from the convention center and studio, bookstores and coffee shops are a second home to me. | Instagram @KCRTishTalk | View My Articles
